Taiwan gets good oil on all-Aussie auzure

MSM Milling’s expeller-pressed premium canola oil, auzure, is making its mark in the Taiwanese market, where a specialist baking distributor is promoting the 100 per cent Australian, GMO-free brand to bakery and food service clients.

Young Sol Life and Miaolin Foods Co supply some of Taiwan’s most famous and trusted restaurants and bakeries, which demand the finest ingredients sourced from around the world to make their goods.

MSM’s growing auzure range was showcased to customers at the recent Miaolin Fair in Tapei, with Manildra Group’s Sidney Chen and MSM Milling’s Genya Miller among invited guests at the two-day event.

In addition to an educational display demonstrating the quality and frying attributes of the auzure Omega 9 high-oleic canola oil, an elaborate menu of delicate dishes, tasting plates and traditional meals – prepared by Miaolin Fair’s in-house Japanese chef Yu – showed various ways to incorporate auzure Omega 9 into everyday cooking applications.

According to Chef Yu Tsung-Hsin – who honed his Japanese cuisine skills during six years working in Osaka in Japan, including for a famous Michelin two-starred restaurant, and in Taiwan at the Japanese- style Taipei Radium Kagaya International Hotel – auzure is a premium cooking oil that maintains its attributes at high temperatures for longer than most cooking oils that he’s used in commercial kitchens.

Miaolin’s Young Sol Life Director Alden Lin said the reception from the Taiwanese market to auzure had been overwhelming, with repeat orders being placed just weeks after the brand’s introduction into the country.

“Taiwanese consumers are demanding non-genetically modified food products. They’re actively seeking products that can be linked to the farmers who grow them and we saw a gap in the market for non-GM, expeller-pressed canola oil from Australia,” he said.

“We only range products our in-house chefs use and would recommend (and) auzure and auzure Omega 9 passed our rigorous in-house testing prior to being launched.

“These points, coupled with the brand’s outstanding frying trial results, made our decision to launch auzure here an easy one.

“We’re excited to partner with MSM Milling to launch auzure into the local market. We made some good introductions to bakery-sourcing managers, restaurant owners and interested buyers during Miaolin Fair.”

In addition to food service industry products, Young Sol Life also distributes retail-sized auzure products throughout Taiwan.
