Taiwan Business Award recognises trusted brand

Manildra Group’s significant contribution to the bilateral business relationships between Taiwan and Australia has been recognised with an Australia and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (ANZCham) award for business excellence announced in Taipei.

Exporting Australian-grown and made wheat-based products to Taiwan since 1990, Manildra Group Taiwan Country Manager Sidney Chen said the ANZCham Australia-Taiwan Business Excellence Award for 2020 recognised the Australian family-owned agribusiness’ established reputation as a trusted brand across the country, underpinned by longstanding relationships.

“From Michelin-star restaurants and traditional cuisine to the paper-making industry, many food merchants and restaurants use Manildra Group’s key ingredients to produce traditional products such as rice, noodles, dumplings, snacks and cookies,” Mr Chen told The Cultivator.

“Our interactions with Taiwanese businesses, merchants and consumers are mutually beneficial and we look forward to future growth opportunities in Taiwan.”

Managing Director John Honan said Australia’s rich natural assets and Manildra Group’s GMO-free range of premium products exceeded Taiwanese consumers’ expectations as a clean and green country.

Mr Honan said a preference in Taiwan for a diverse range of high-quality Manildra Group products included grain-neutral spirits, canola oil, wheat starches, flour and bakery premixes, vital wheat gluten and modified proteins.

Accepting the award on behalf of the Honan family and Manildra Group team at the 15th annual ANZCham Business Awards gala in November 2020, Mr Chen was joined by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Representative Australian Office to Taiwan Gary Cowan, and business and political leaders including Taiwan’s Minister of Economic Affairs Mei-Hua Wang.

ANZCham represents Australians and New Zealanders doing business in Taiwan to complement organisations promoting trade, investment and general relations among the three nations.
