Asahi Switches to Sunshine Sugar
The familiar brand we have all sipped on at some point, Asahi Beverages, will experience the sensation that is Sunshine Sugar as its new sugar supplier.
Asahi Beverages is one of the leading beverage companies in Australia and New Zealand, and Sunshine Sugar was recently awarded the sugar supply contract for the Queensland Asahi Lifestyle Beverages business.
The new agreement includes the supply of all-Australian liquid and granular sugar that has been grown and made in northern New South Wales used in Asahi Beverages drinks including Solo® among a range of other well known beverage brands.
Some 500 farming families grow sugarcane across the northern rivers region of New South Wales. This sugarcane is processed at factories owned and operated under the Manildra Harwood Sugars business, which is a partnership between Manildra Group and the grower-owned New South Wales Sugar Milling Co-operative.
David Baxter, Group General Manager of Procurement for Asahi told The Cultivator, “It’s so important we use only the best ingredients to produce the most high-quality beverages. Across our brands, we use many Australian grown ingredients and find them to be second-to-none in terms of quality and consistency.”
With a rich and varied history, Asahi Beverages manufactures, markets and sells both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including, soft drinks, mixers, mineral water, water, juice, tea, energy, and sports drinks.
As part of one of Japan’s leading beverage companies Asahi Group, Asahi Beverages is comprised of Asahi Lifestyle Beverages, Asahi Beverages New Zealand and Carlton & United Breweries (CUB).
The introduction of Sunshine Sugar into the Asahi Beverages fold accompanies Manildra Group’s existing supply of maltose and brewer’s liquid ingredients.
As Australia’s leading producer of ethanol, Manildra Group also supplies their high-quality
grain-neutral spirit to multiple Asahi Beverages alcohol manufacturing sites.
“Manildra Group and Sunshine Sugar are pleased to have partnered with Asahi Beverages,” Sunshine Sugar CEO, Mr Chris Connors said.
“It is very satisfying to have been appointed as a supplier worthy of helping Asahi Beverages bring enjoyment and connection to everyday moments in life.”
