Welcome to the 14th edition of the Shoalhaven Starches newsletter, where we bring you the latest updates and celebrate the achievements of our team and community.
In this issue, we showcase the Shoalhaven PCYC Breakfast Program, the Greenwell Point foreshore rejuvenation project, and a spotlight on our hardworking Packaging Team. We also share exciting milestones, including the arrival of rolling stock and locomotives, an update on the Shoalhaven Starches silo incident, and the completion of our noise wall project.

Our continuous expansion and diversification of our flagship Shoalhaven Starches site underwrites our commitment to our nation’s agricultural, manufacturing, and export industries, through sustainable growth and jobs. Creating more than 60 additional local jobs in the past year alone, our Bomaderry workforce increased to 510 people onsite.
Our more sustainable, high-value jobs include opportunities for upskilling and leadership, in ongoing training and development of our people to secure our shared future in Australian-owned, grown and made. Through our longstanding connections in rural communities, Manildra Group deeply appreciates the dedication of our people to make all the difference to our shared success – from Bomaderry to the world – as highlighted in this regular Shoalhaven Starches community newsletter.

In 2022 Manildra Group is celebrating its 70th birthday
with the rich history of our family-owned Australian
business, and all that we are proud of, be it our people,
farming families or the communities who support us.
Our long history stretches back to 1952, when our
first flour mill was purchased in the historical
NSW township of Manildra. After seven decades,
Manildra Group has grown to become a world-leading
manufacturer – expanding and diversifying year-on-year.
As we reflect on these 70 years of business, operated by
three generations of our family, we remain ever grateful
for the generous support, loyalty and kindness of our
employees, business partners, suppliers, customers,
and the Bomaderry community.

To protect the health of our people, our communities and the continuity of our business, Manildra Group has implemented proactive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the pandemic.
From our world-class distillery, Manildra Group has been in a position to produce the pharmaceutical-grade ethanol at a minimum 70 per cent alcohol required for sanitisers and disinfectants aiding in the frontline fight by our health and essential service workers.

With the New Year bushfires devastating large tracts of Australia’s south-east and the drought continuing to ravage the state, our thoughtsand prayers are with those people and communities impacted.
We continue to support our staff and customers that have been affected by road closures and fires and continue to work towards getting our valuable products to customers in areas of dire need.

Since establishing our family business in 1952 with a flour mill in NSW, we’ve understood the invaluable contribution of our local producers, suppliers, customers and communities to the sustainability of our shared success.

Welcome to our first edition of the Shoalhaven Starches Community Report, a local newsletter to share stories from Manildra Group’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bomaderry, on the NSW South Coast.
Here, we produce industrial and food products, which are distributed nationwide and overseas, and employ hundreds of staff directly, plus thousands more people indirectly through construction, transport, administration and maintenance services.
