Through decades of adapting to better ways of adding value to our natural resources, Manildra Group has evolved into a global pioneer of research projects and industry-leading innovation for Australia’s sustainably diversified, advanced manufacturing future.
In 2024, Manildra Group continued to develop a range of projects in-house and in partnerships to close the loop in sustainably circular value-adding throughout our supply chain – including:
- Developing wheat protein isolates to maintain product quality and consistency in plant-based meat alternatives that reduce environmental impacts, and for natural ingredients used to substitute eggs to remove allergens.
- Developing low-calorie sweeteners from wheat starch to supplement traditional sweeteners in reduced-calorie products.
- Developing glucoses to produce sophisticated biodegradable packaging alternatives.
- Enhancing capabilities to measure organic acids in dextrin prior to ethyl-alcohol production process via infrared technology, increasing yield efficiency.
- Adopting ultraviolet technology in water treatment processes at Shoalhaven Starches, reducing microbial loads and use of traditional sanitisers.
- Harvesting microalgae from waterways for fermentation to produce proteins and docosahexaenoic acid, with oil components used in applications including dietary supplements, pet food and aquaculture.
- Advancing greener, low-carbon aviation solutions in collaboration with potential sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) producers, to develop high-quality SAF using our renewable ethanol as a primary feedstock.
